Why do you need to dress up like superheroes?

The superhero is an easily recognized symbol of selflessness and aid to others. The Capital City Super Squad was founded with the idea that people should be able to have Real Life Superheroes in their community as a source of hope and inspiration.

What sort of things does the Capital City Super Squad do?

The CCSS engages in a wide variety of civic volunteerism. This can range from visiting sick children in the hospital to handing out food to the homeless to doing neighborhood safety patrols. Can I help out with the Capital City Super Squad without dressing like a superhero?

One of the few requirements we have is that all participants must have a superhero identity of some sort including a costume that will identify them to people as a superhero. If you would like to volunteer without dressing up there are lots of great groups you can volunteer with here: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/vol/

All right, I want to try out being a superhero. What should I do?
