May 8, 2008 Homicide on 295 South Bound Between

Pennsylvania Avenue

and

Howard Road, SE

On Thursday, May 8, 2008, at approximately 12:26 am, police were called to Interstate 295 between

Pennsylvania Avenue

and

Howard Road, SE

, for the report of the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers discovered a Toyota Camry with apparent multiple gunshot holes. After further investigation police located 26-year-old Mansoor Awan, of the 1900 block of

Trenton Place, SE

, inside of the vehicle suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The case is under investigation by members of the department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch. As part of their ongoing investigation, detectives are looking at the possibility that the vehicle involved in this incident may have been fired upon near the

Pennsylvania Avenue

exit by a light colored or white vehicle. May 6, 2008 Fatal Shooting at

Fort Davis and Q Streets, SE The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating the fatal shooting of a man which occurred on Monday, May 5, 2008 on
Fort Davis Street, SE

. Shortly before 6 pm on Monday, May 5, 2008, police responded to the vicinity of

Fort Davis and Q Streets, SE to investigate reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim, who has been identified as 29-year-old Clifton Paul Jackson, of the 3800 block of
Q Street SE

, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:47 pm. The case is currently under investigation by detectives assigned to the department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch. May 5, 2008 Homicide in the 4800 Block of

Benning Road, SE

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating the fatal shooting of a woman which occurred on Monday, May 5, 2008 in the 4900 block of

Benning Road, SE

. At approximately 3:07 am on Monday, officers from the Sixth District responded to the 4800 block of

Benning Road, SE

to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult female lying in the street suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. The victim, identified as 23-year-old Jasmine McCray of the 4900 block of

G Street, SE

, was transported to

Howard University Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 3:43 am. During the course of their investigation, officers located another gunshot victim at the
Benning Road

location. That victim, an adult male, was treated and released at an area hospital for an apparently non-life threatening injury. His identity is being withheld because he is a potential witness in the case.This murder is under investigation by detectives assigned to the department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch. As part of their ongoing investigation, detectives are working to determine any possible correlation between these two shootings. Elvans Road, SE

At approximately 4 am on Saturday, April 26, 2008, police were called to the 2400 block of

Elvans Road, SE

for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located 20-year-old Erric Woods, of

Capitol Heights, Maryland, suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He was transported to the

George Washington Hospital and pronounced dead.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male, suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds to the body. The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Melvin R. Seals, of the 4600 block of

Foote Street, NE.

He was taken to the

Howard University Hospital and pronounced dead.

Yuma Streets, SE
At approximately 12:32 am, on Saturday, April 26, 2008, police were called to the Greater Southeast Hospital for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival officers located 31-year-old Kenneth Walley, of the 3900 block of
8th Street, SE

, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the body. He was transported to the

Washington Hospital Center’s MedStar Unit and pronounced dead.

It was later learned that the victim who had been reportedly shot at 8th and Yuma Streets, drove himself to Greater Southeast hostpital.

On Saturday, April 26, 2008, police responded to the 3000 block of

Stanton Road, SE

for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located 28-year-old Billy Evans Middleton, of the 3000 block of

Stanton Road, SE

, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. DC Fire medical emergency personnel responded to the scene, but found no signs consistent with life. The victim was taken to the Office of the DC Examiner for an autopsy.
