Superhero Manifesto
A Note on Sidekicks
Sidekicks can be a valuable asset to a superhero. They can provide assistance and backup and help to the “details” of any situation that arise. By our definition of sidekick we will define a sidekick as a superhero that operates under the attachment of a particular “host” superhero and does not do any superheroing independently.
In comics, sidekicks are often children or teenagers. In the real world this must be approached with caution. Having a minor along puts them in possible danger ad distracts the host superhero from being able to focus on their task. However, this can also be a great opportunity to mentor a young person and instill important socially conscious values. In the end, a superhero must weigh their choices carefully about this decision.
Generally, a sidekick should have a theme related to their host superhero. For example, Flash and Kid Flash, Aquaman and Aqualad, etc. At a later point these sidekicks mature into their own and separate identities, This is not however a necessity so use this as a suggestion rather than a rule.
