The Superhero Headquarters
Every superhero needs a headquarters. The superhero headquarters is essential because it serves many vital purposes:
• It is one place every team member can meet;
• It affords a measure of privacy and security;
• It serves as a hub for communication and passing along important information;
• It is a place to keep costumes, weapons and accessories, and;
• It is a place where superheroes can let down their hair and relax.
Remember the ideas presented in the following are for illustrative purposes only and that superhero headquarters can vary widely. Perhaps it’s like an office where superheroes can come and go on duty, perhaps one or two team members live there or perhaps the entire team lives there.
Here we will examine the idea of the superhero headquarters. First we will look at classic examples of superhero headquarters as they exist in comics and the inherent ideas included in them that make them ideal headquarters. Then we will look at how to incorporate these ideas into real world superhero headquarters.
The Classic Superhero Headquarters
We begin by looking at the archetypal classic examples of headquarters established by fictional superheroes. These ideas are wild and fantastic and not practical in the real world. They are important however because they share in common some mutual ideas and themes that can be applied in the real world. Here are just several ideas presented by the literature:
