Superhero Manifesto
Your Real Superhero Headquarters
The following are just some examples of average homes and other places can be transformed into a superhero headquarters. These are not meant to be blueprints, merely ideas showing the possibilities of a real life headquarters. In keeping with the authentic theme of this text, I have intentionally used the layouts of places people I know or I myself have lived. This is in order to show how the average house or apartment can be transformed into a superhero headquarters.
The above plan is based on a mobile home a friend of mine lived in during college. Theoretically, it would have an advantage of being mobile, accommodates a large amount of interior space and has an inconspicuous appearance.
The example below is a modest one set in an attic space. There is nothing fancy and is more of a start-up headquarters for the lone superhero or a few superheroes just starting out.
The plan below is based on the house I lived in as a child. It has a wide array of the superhero headquarters features and still manages to reserve two bedrooms to remain as residence space.
Now let’s look at a higher level of superhero headquarters. This one below is close to the tower/ complex example we looked at previously. It presumes the group operates publicly and wants to be easily located for services. Obviously, to move up to this level, the group will have to have significant finances at hand.
This idea below is based on a bar where my old roommate used to work. The downstairs in this example serves as a shop – perhaps a used bookstore or some other unsuspecting place – while the upstairs is secretly the location of the superhero team’s headquarters. This also provides a “front” to explain what superheroes do for a living – working in the adjoining shop! It includes a great superhero headquarters feature – the secret entrance.
Here is perhaps the most extreme and difficult example of the headquarters you can build at home. The subterranean chamber, reinforced with concrete or other materials can easily have electric lines running to it from a nearby house. It can be located on private property so it is less likely to be scrutinized by people like fire code inspectors and the entrance can be hidden as a nearby detached garage or shed.
